Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 unveiled at CES 2017
Qualcomm announced the next chipset in Snapdragon series the Snapdragon 835 at CES 2017. This is a octa core chipset using big.LITTLE architecture and will be commercially available by mid 2017. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will be more powerful and battery efficient.
The qualcomm snapdragon 820 and the 821 chipset that are currently used on premium smartphones are quad core whereas the Snapdragon 835 is an octa core (Qualcomm Kryo 280 CPU) using 10nm process. This new chipset can be clocked up to 2.4GHz – 4x cores up to 1.9GHz and 4x cores up to 2.4GHz.
SD 835 is coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. In terms of performance this chipset is 27% faster and provides 25% faster GPU rendering. In terms of battery consumption this chipset will consume 25% less power when compared with previous generations.
Snapdragon 835 supports 4K and the chipset size will allow manufacturers to design thinner devices. Other features supported – ultra fast charging, multi day battery life, AR/VR support, 4K support, BT 5.0, Multi Gigabit WiFi connectivity and qualcomm quick charge 4 support that gives up to 5 hours talk time with just 5 minutes of charging.
