Bugatti Chiron recalled worldwide: Here’s what went wrong in the world’s fastest production car
Bugatti Chiron has recently been recalled over a potential welding issue. The automaker has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the same. The welding defect was acknowledged in the front seat recliner brackets. The issue can be serious as in case of a seat recliner fail, the driver will experience a sudden change in his driving position and that can be extremely dangerous at high speeds. The exotic carmaker has recalled the affected 47 units of the car in order to fix the issue. Out of these, 12 units are located in the United States and Bugatti has plans to transport these hypercars to the dealers for inspection purposes. Bugatti technicians have already contacted the owners of affected models. The cars will then be retrieved and will be transported to the US in an enclosed truck. In case an improper weld is found, Bugatti will replace the whole seating assembly.
Coming back, the Bugatti Chiron is the world's fastest production car that has a limited top speed of a whopping 420 kmph. The car sources its power from a massive 8.0-litre W16 engine that churns out 1479 horses while the peak torque figure stands at 1600 Nm. Having said that, the Bugatti Chiron witnesses 296 more horses and almost 100 Nm more torque than its Veyron predecessor. All this power is transferred to the wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission system.
Talking of cabin, well, the Bugatti Chiron does feel like a hyper-expensive car. The polished aluminium switches shout out loud elegance and class while the high-end sound system makes sure that you get a worthy alternative to that stunning exhaust note. The Bugatti Chiron is not the only hypercar to go through a voluntary recall. Last year, the Pagani Huayra was recalled due to faulty airbags. Back in 2014, Koenigsegg also recalled one unit of the Agera in the United States.
